![]() The light grabbed the rails tightly and the levers were easy to reach for engaging the light. I installed a TLR-2 Streamlight without issues. The weapon also sports a M1913 rail forward of the trigger guard. But the potential does exist and I don’t really see the need of a decocker in a single action gun. While I can see the concern that the decocker might “accidently” be depressed, I had no issues in our testing. It takes around 6 to 7 pounds of pressure to engage the decocker. Moving the slide back reengages the striker. In the case of this weapon, depressing the decocker renders the gun not operational unless you do a press check or rack the slide. Many online pundits scream about having a decocker on a single action gun. A controversial element of the TP9SA is the decocker. The cocked or ready to fire indicator for the striker is at the rear and gives and easy to see red dot along with a chambered round indicator on the top of the slide just behind the ejection port. Assembly was simple by dropping the barrel and spring back into the slide, lining up the rails with the lower and pulling it back into place.įeatures: Overall the gun has solid features. Dirt and grime wiped away easily with no hidden surprises in cleaning the gun. Cleaning is straight forward and facilitated with the included brush and rod. The basic cleaning and lube points are similar as with most semi-auto handguns. Depress the decocker, pull down the two side levers and the slide comes off without having to squeeze the trigger. Again, there were no FTF’s and no jams after firing an additional few hundred rounds.ĭisassembly and maintenance: The ease of taking it apart is one of the great features of the TP9SA. ![]() The three dot sights were easy to frame a good sight picture. The gun repeated the same performance as from the ad-hoc range. The second venue was at a local indoor range. One nice feature on the gun is the rear sights are adjustable for lateral drift. I shared my bullet launching duties with a couple of experienced shooters that agreed with my perspective on the TP9SA. The gun shot low straight out of the case but it held tight groups at different distances even with the broad range of frugal priced ammo. ![]() A blue collar shooting appliance is not something I do often, but will make a point to do more regularly. While it wasn’t terrible, I pay tribute to my trigger perspective from shooting my own honed weapons. A few magazines of rounds helped compensate for the primeval trigger action. The slack was longer than the Glock or a Springfield Armory XD and the reset was light. Unlike other reviews I have read about the TP9SA, I found the trigger to be slightly rough on the pull. The trigger was different than other weapons I have fired. Firing several hundred rounds over the course of a couple of hours, the gun had no FTF’s and it went bang every time. I used several brands of 115 gr 9mm ammo including Fiochi, Parzi and Wolf. The first was at an outdoor ad-hoc range. Shooting: I launched bullets with the TP9SA at two different venues. The slide engaged easily, the magazine locked in simply and released the same. The fit and finish are decent with an evenly applied cerakote coating. SWVA Arms (I know the owners. Good people and prices)Īesthetics: Let’s face it, there has to be a “coolness” factor that first attracts you to a weapon.Blue Ridge Firearms (I know the owner. ![]() If you are looking for a place to order a firearm, we recommend that you check out: This test shooter came with a case, two 18 round magazines, a Serpa-ish holster with a screw adjustable paddle, a cleaning rod, brush and magazine loader. Internet price searches fluctuate around $340-$370. The TP9SA is a striker-fired, polymer-framed full size 9mm pistol that’s in essence a Turkish-made knock-off of the Walther P99. Here’s what I found out shooting it in several range settings.
